If you’ve always wanted to learn the art of Stained Glass (and who wouldn’t?!) a new class session starts on Tuesday, April 2!
The class will run for 8 Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at The Art Center at Ambler. The Art Center is located at 45 Forest Ave, Ambler, PA.
Now is your chance to learn the copper foil method of stained glass construction. The class will start with pattern making then move on to accurately cutting glass and fitting the glass to your pattern. Once your piece is cut and fit, each glass piece will be wrapped with copper foil and soldered in place. Once complete, we will discuss patina and finishing techniques. We will discuss tools and supplies as well as safety concerns and where to safely set up a workshop in your home.
During the eight weeks, you will be able to complete two projects and most likely begin a third to complete on your own. Your first project supplies will be available at an additional cost of $30 payable the evening of class. This package includes pattern making supplies, glass, copper foil, solder, flux and patina.
Basic tools will be available to borrow during the class sessions as well as two glass grinders to share. If you own tools, bring them along! Should you decide to continue beyond the class, tools can be purchased directly through me or one of the (relatively) local retailers in our region.
